William Shatner: Has Been

We at the BionicBuddha are always busy, however from time to time we pause to reflect on some milestone in life. Today, on the 75th anniversary of his birth, we are stopping to remember William Shatner.

Having a career which has run the gamut from: "Howdy Doody", "Star Trek," "T.J. Hooker" and "Boston Legal", it is difficult to write a brief bio on anyone who has done everything from Shakespearean drama to slapstick (and that was just with his first 3 wives)!

At any rate, it is great to see a man who has saved the earth in 3 TV episodes and 2 movies continue to challenge and command audiences with the release of his latest album, Has Been (produced by Ben Folds). A man of action; he has, over the years, demonstrated shoulder rolls and flying leg kicks and even sold his kidney stone for $25,000 to GoldenPalace.com. I wonder what they might pay for some expired sandwich meat and a few slices of "day-old" wonderbread ?

Although he is often lampooned, it is nice to recognize the birthday of a man who once rebutted his make-believe persona with the statement: "And when I speak, I never, ever talk like every. Word is. Its own. Sentence."

If you haven't already, do yourself a favour and check out, "Space Squadron and the Time Condenser"; it is certain to entertain even the most demanding of William Shatner fans...

Congratulations William Shatner, Has Been!

A British band called The Wedding Present do a great cover of William Shatner's song, "Felicity".
